A. PIPING VENTS, DRAINS AND SAMPLE POINTS ARE 3/4” MINIMUM. FOR VENTS
AND DRAINS, ANY HORIZONTAL VALVE ON THE THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE VERTICAL PIPELINE IS TO BE READ AS A DRAIN VALVE AND ANY HORIZONTAL VALVE ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE VERTICAL PIPELINE IS TO BE READ AS A VENT VALVE CONNECTION.

REFER TO ISOLATION PHILOSOPHY N° : RLNG-000-PR-PP-0003. PIPING CLASS BREAK CAN BE DIFFERENT ACCORDING TO PROCESS CONDITIONS UPSTREAM AND DOWNSTREAM RELIEF VALVE. FOR MORE INFORMATION. FOR PSV, THE SPECIAL PIPING ITEM IS A SWITCHING DEVICE WITH MECHANICAL INTERLOCKING SYSTEM TO ENSURE A PSV IS CONTINUOUSLY ONLINE DURING CHANGE OVER OPERATION.

IT SHOULD BE THAT ALL HAZARDOUS SERVICES (INCLUDING HYDROCARBONS, EXCLUDING CHEMICAL) VENT TO FLARE AND DRAIN TO A CLOSED DRAIN SYSTEM. ALL DRAINS SHALL BE HARDPIPED TO FLARE HEADER OR DRAIN HEADER (TYPE 1) REFER TO LEGENDS SHEET P&ID N° : RLNG-000-PR-PID-0013. DELETED.
ALL CLOSED PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE DISCHARGE LEADS SHALL BE FREE DRAINING FROM THE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE TO THE TOP OF THE DISCHARGE HEADER. EACH LEAD IS TO BE CHECKED FOR A DOWNWARD SLOPE AFTER CONSTRUCTION.IMPULSE LINE FOR PILOT OPERATED VALVES SHALL BE FREE DRAINING.

FOR UNSPARED PRESSURE RELIEVING DEVICES, WHEN AN INLET STOP VALVE IS PROVIDED BETWEEN A VESSEL AND ITS PRESSURE RELIEVING DEVICE OR WHEN A DISCHARGE STOP VALVE IS PROVIDED BETWEEN A PRESSURE RELIEVING DEVICE AND A COMMON DISCHARGE HEADER,THE STOP VALVE SHALL BE ARRANGED SO THAT IT CAN BE LOCKED. WRITTEN ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES SHALL ENSURE THAT THE STOP VALVE WILL NOT BE CLOSED WHILE THE VESSEL IS IN OPERATION EXCEPT BY AN AUTHORIZED PERSON WHO SHALL REMAIN STATIONED THERE DURING THE VESSEL’S OPERATION AND WHO SHALL AGAIN LOCK THE STOP VALVE OPEN BEFORE LEAVING. UNDER NO CONDITION SHALL A DISCHARGE STOP VALVE BE CLOSED, WHILE THE VESSEL IS IN OPERATION, BEFORE THE INLET STOP VALVE IS CLOSED (REFER TO ASME PRESSURE VESSEL CODE SECTION VIII APPENDIX M). BLOCK VALVES IN RELIEF VALVE INLET AND DISCHARGE LINES MUST HAVE STEMS IN HORIZONTAL POSITION IF GATE VALVES ARE USED. THE SAME IS VALID FOR ANY VALVE IN THE PIPING BETWEEN THE RELIEF VALVE AND THE VESSEL IT IS PROTECTING. REMOVABLE SPOOL INSTALLED WHEN PSV IS INSTALLED DIRECTLY ON THE EQUIPMENT. WHEN PSV IS INSTALLED ON A PROCESS LINE, NO REMOVABLE SPOOL IS REQUIRED. PSV GOVERNING CASE INDICATION.
REQUIREMENT FOR CAVITY VENTING ON BLOCK VALVES TO BE CONSIDERED AS PER ISOLATION PHILOSOPHY RLNG-000-PR-PP-003.
