PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In order to fulfill its domestic needs in Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) used for the production of detergents and possibly export the excess to the international market, Sonatrach plans to build a new LAB production complex in Skikda (Algeria). The new complex will produce 100 000 tons of LAB per year and will be installed in the existing industrial zone of Skikda.
The LAB project includes the following installations located on four different sites:
• New LAB complex:
The new LAB complex will include the following three process units for the production of N-Paraffins:
• Prefractionation of Kerosene feedstock • Hydrotreating of sulfur, nitrogen and aromatics contaminants • Extraction of N-Paraffins
LAB will be then produced from N-Paraffins in the following four units:
• Dehydrogenation of N-Paraffins to N-Olefins • Selective Hydrogenation of Di-olefins to N-Olefins • Adsorption of aromatics • Alkylation of Benzene and HAB trans-alkylation
Utilities and Offsites necessary for these process units will be part of the project.

• Skikda refinery RA1K:
The project will include all the necessary facilities:
• To export from the RA1K refinery, Kerosene and Benzene to the new LAB complex • To receive the by-products generated by the LAB complex
• Skikda industrial area (DRIK):
The project will cover the interconnecting lines for raw materials, by-products, finished LAB product to the port and utilities.
• Port of Skikda:
The project will include all the facilities necessary to load finished LAB product on ships.

6.1 LAB Complex
6.1.1 Equipment Numbering
Equipment shall be numbered in accordance with the following system: Basic format: UUU-AAA-XXX
where:
UUU: Unit/Section Number (3 digits, in accordance with tables of UNIT NUMBERING. In case the unit identification has more than 3 digits, only the first 3 digits are used for this purpose: e.g. PORT shall be POR)
AAA: No. 3 max. uppercase letters, in accordance with Table 1, Table 2, Table 3, Table 4,
identifying the type of equipment
XXX: Sequential number (starting from 001)
Parallel or series equipment shall have the same number, but with the “A” or “B” added at the end as a suffix, e.g. 600-P-010A. Multiple tag indication inside the documents will be in the form 600-P-010A/B (for two items) or 600-P-010A-C (for more than two items). For warehouse spare equipment, the “S” added at the end as a suffix.

If a unit is not divided into several sections, the Section Number shall be identical to the Unit Number in accordance with Table 1, Table 2, Table 3, Table 4.

INSTRUMENT NUMBERING
7.1 LAB Complex
7.1.1
Instrument Numbering
The instruments will be tagged as follows: Basic format: AAA-BBBBB-CCCDD where:
AAA: Unit/Section number, which the instrument belongs to (3 digits, in accordance with tables of UNIT NUMBERING. In case the unit identification has more than 3 digits, only the first 3 digits are used for this purpose: e.g. PORT shall be POR)
BBBBB: no. 5 uppercase letters max. to identify (according to ISA standard) a process variable
and function
CCC: no. 3 digits max. (a number of 3 digits) to identify a sequential number DD:
no. 2 uppercase letter as suffix where necessary
Examples:
940-PT-001 Pressure Transmitter included in Unit/section 940 870-LAH-001 High Level Alarm included in Unit/section 870 820-LT-001 and 820-LT-002 Level Transmitter included in Unit/section 820 and associated to 2 pieces of equipment (for instance 2 pressure vessels numbered 820-D- 001A and 820-D- 001B)
The limit switches and the position transmitters installed on a valve will be prefixed by the process variable of the loop associated to the valve, e.g. FZSO-100 installed on FV-100, LZT-101 installed on LV-101. The solenoid valves installed on a valve will be tagged with the first-letter equal to the process variable of the valve, e.g. FXY-100 installed on FV-100; in fact, both instruments belong to loop F-100.
Note: The numbering will go further if there are two equipment in parallel and a triple stitching for voting. Example: For an equipment named 820-D-001A (with 820-D-001B in parallel)
- The LG will be tagged 820-LG-001 and 820-LG-002 respectively.
- The LT connected to the DCS will be 820-LT-002 and 820-LT-003 respectively.
- The 3 transmitters connected to the ESD will be tagged: 820-LT-003A, 820-LT-003B, 820-LT-
003C and 820-LT-004A, 820-LT-004B, 820-LT-004C respectively.
